A FRIENDLY GREETING TO MY TEACHER – circa WWI
Since friendship holds within the heart
A place most dear and true,
I hope you know you’ve been to me
A friend and teacher too!
A FRIENDLY GREETING TO MY TEACHER is a lovely sentiment published as gift to a favorite teacher in a student’s life.
The motto is not dated; however, its design and material selection scream WWI . Note its small size., not unusual for early mottos. Also, the frame is ornate with a dark bronze finish adhered to gesso over compressed brown paper board over wood. Again not found in later framed mottos. Other materials are original except the small brass hanger which was added sometime later. As for its conditional, the frame is fragile, but then what isn’t at 100 years old.
A FRIENDLY GREETING TO MY TEACHER is a rare find. Consider it as a gift to a teacher, a mentor. The motto would be cherished forever.
